Are you really an innovative educator? To be as transparent as possible, I would say no. After reading this article I do not think I was an innovative educator. My 6th grade math class is the first example that comes to mind as an innovative class. This class comes to mind maily for its use of math lab stations and blended learning. However, I dont think this was an innovative course because many of the assignments and labs and online portions were not always related to the real-world. There have been some instances where I believe this class was innovative such as students million dollar project. In this project students buy a house, go to college, buy a car, and invest in the stock market using mathmatical skills they have learned all year. By the end of the project the students have completed a full written bank statement and have filled out a checkbook. I would say this was an authentic learning expirience for my students and provided them with a meaningful learning outocme.
Under communication is problematic as a lack of clarity can result in misunderstandings and possibly lack of interest in what you are trying to inform people about. In order for people to become invested in your thoughts and opinions you need to be willing to communicate at every step of the process and allow for those around you to communicate back to you as well. Kotter’s video discuss the idea of using a different array of technologies to get the message out. This allows for effective communication as there are many ways for people to recieve your information. Think of an ad, we see ad's for the same product on TV, social media, billboards, etc. and we could also hear about it from the radio or even word of mouth. Communication is likely the most important step in any implementation strategy becasue without it how is anyone going to buy your product? Answer is, they wont.
